It has never been more important for colleges and universities to consider a strong digital experience strategy for their Higher Education Admissions Software. The digital experience includes any user interface that constituents encounter, such as the applicant portal, event registration pages, and inquiry forms, to name a few.

In the article from Gartner called “Adopt a Composable DXP Strategy to Future-Proof Your Tech Stack”, Guseva, Natis, et al., expound that organizations need to pursue technical solutions that can be configured by non-technical personnel on the fly in order to deliver speedy solutions that fit the ever-evolving organizational needs.

They are referring to the digital experience that constituents see when interacting with the enterprise software systems within organizations and institutions, and the degree to which institutions can maintain, upgrade, and support these user experiences on demand. They state:

  • Enabling the composable UX is the next evolution of the DXP, where interfaces and experiences can be assembled by nontechnical business users based on the type of end user and their role.
  • Future-proof your digital experience stack by implementing granular, task-oriented packaged business capabilities, which are key for faster time to market and better adoption of a DXP.
  • This new paradigm requires a different set of skills from implementing a custom front end in ReactJS, or developing complex integrations with other X-as-a-service components of your composable business, using headless APIs as your PBCs. It requires the development of low-code and no-code tools to perform the composition.

In the case of Higher Education Admissions Software, Enrollment Rx fully agrees with the Gartner analysts’ assessments. Enrollment Rx often works with universities and colleges to deliver complex user interface (UI) experiences such as applicant portals, student portals, event calendars and registration forms, recommender interfaces, parent portals, and many more. It would be an unwieldy task for our company to custom build all of these user interfaces. In fact, in the past, we used to custom build all of the above, and it was a cumbersome process indeed.  But nowadays, because we have a digital experience product (FormBuilder Rx) that allows for no-code/low-code configuration, we can configure UIs at a rapid speed. Our clients’ operational teams are well empowered to manage their experiences, typically without involving IT support.

The Gartner article goes on to state that:

“Customers’ needs and wants continually evolve and change over time. These changing wants and needs will continue to challenge organizations and IT. Application leaders are charged with mandates to meet customers’ rapid and increasing demand for integrated, personalized, continuous and frictionless digital experiences, as part of the overall CX. This is possible only with a DXP that is modular, whereby digital experiences can be rapidly assembled and reassembled, and recomposed as business, customer and market needs shift.”

Gartner refers to this type of technology as front end as a service (FEaaS). Enrollment Rx is thrilled to be a leading provider of FEaaS for the Higher Education Admissions Software market.  We believe that operational teams should be empowered to take ownership of their software systems. The people who know the business and operational rules should be able to configure the automation and workflow rules within the Higher Education Admissions Software.
